Water may sometimes be a problem
in processing or reprocessing starch
based resins and also with other
water sensitive plastic resins such
as: Polyethylene, Polypropylene,
Nylon, Polycarbonate, and PET.
Willow Ridge Plastics has
developed AQUANIL, as desiccant
for use, as needed, with these no-
acid plastic resins and compounds.
Order Recommendation
The addition of 1/2%- 3% by weight,
AQUANIL Desiccant is usually sufficient to handle most moisture
problems, but can be used at any level.
When used with starch based products to produce film, the
results are: no fish eyes and smooth film.
AQUANIL is available
separately or can be custom formulated for individual needs.
STORAGE AND HANDLING
AQUANIL additives are hygroscopic
materials and will absorb moisture form the atmosphere when
opened. Packages
should be opened only when ready to use and resealed when not
in use.
This product can be handled in conventional resin conveying
and feeding systems. Adequate filters for the removal of
fines and dust present in all resins should be used. Equipment
should
be properly maintained to prevent leaks, and adequately grounded
at all times. Good housekeeping practices should be followed
at all times. |
